What About Brain Health

Updated: Nov 16, 2021

Shape and size does matter!

How often do you feel like you're in a haze, easily forget, or constantly in alert? The brain is our microprocessor and it was designed to help you survive. It is as vast and mysterious as the galaxy with stars as electrical impulses, organs/muscles as its planets, and the brain as the sun which acts as the main gravitational pull and life source for its planets. Our brain it's an intricate and harmonious machine that directs blood flow and releases hormones. Understanding brain anatomy and function is key in beginning your journey of self care.

This understanding becomes even more crucial when having to deal with mental health issues that requires a multilayered approach. There is more data supporting the link of the physical health of the brain with mental health conditions such as PTSD, ADD, behavioral addictions, etc. The brain matter/tissue is extremely sensitive and affected by a multitude of environmental factors such as the experiences we go through and toxins we ingest or absorb. The brain is strong enough to rebuild if we allow it to repair but knowing you can do so is the first step.

There are basic steps one can take to create a healthier brain: proper sleep, meditation and relaxation practice, proper nutrition with omega rich food, positive experiences with people and activities, and stop from ingesting unnecessary harmful toxins in food, drugs and skin products. This is a topic I am obsessed with so please share any recommendations for healthy brains!
